May 21, 2001 Release at will Kevin McKinney named new Evansville D.S.As of June 16, the Rev. Kevin McKinney will become the new superintendent of the United Methodist Churches of the Evansville District. Indian, Bishop Woodie W. White has announced. Currently McKinney serves as pastor of Morton Memorial UMC in Clarksville, New Albany District, where he has led the 550-member congregation for the past seven years. He will follow the Rev. Joe Kamman who has been the district's superintendent since 1995. Kamman will be the new senior pastor at Asbury UMC in Columbus. Evansville district is comprised of 68 churches with a combined total of 12,555 members. The geographical area of the district includes Vanderburg, Spencer, Perry and Warrick Counties. Earlier, McKinney had served pastorates at Unity Chapel, Richmond Faith-Trinity/Boston, Fountain City-Hopewell and Union UMCs. He holds a master's of divinity degree from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis (1981), and a bachelor's degree in history and religion from Franklin College (1977). He was ordained an elder of the South Indiana Conference in 1982. Key areas of service include 12 years as a member of the South Indiana Conference Board of Ordained Ministry and 17 years as chairperson of district Board of Ordained Ministry, among other conference and community commissions and boards. Kevin McKinney is a native Hoosier, born in Tell City, Ind.
