COLUMBUS CHURCH CONTINUES TO FULFILL NEEDS OF FLOOD SURVIVORS
Asbury UMC continues to discover needs among our on church family
and throughout the community. We are mobilized into action and much
has been done, yet much, much more is ahead. We are grateful for the
100 flood buckets and look forward to hundreds more. Every day of
work uncovers more damage and our work crews are stretched but
committed. We were thankful to have Bob Babcock and David Powell
visit with us yesterday. Our need for additional volunteers is a
present reality and will continue for months ahead. Asbury continues
to distribute clothes, respond to flooded victims and remains
flexible to address needs as they unfold. Our hospital is closed,
but The Great Physician is still at work. – Al Styron, pastor
We now need work teams for the Columbus area. Asbury UMC in
Columbus has offered to house and feed the volunteers. If you are
interested in volunteering, please contact Jenni Walker (jenniwalker@mac.com
OR call 812-893-1760). She will be able to give you all the
information you need.
WORKTEAM NEEDED FOR FRANKLIN AREA

VINCENNES CHURCH HELPS READY SITE FOR POSSIBLE FLOOD RELIEF
First UMC in Vincennes made flood buckets and health kits last
summer to be stored at a distribution center to be used as needed.
Not knowing if the flood waters will hit Vincennes, First UMC is
working to help others. Cases of bottled water and Gatorade have
been delivered to the local high school where 400 National Guard
have set up camp to help with flood relief situations.
A special offering will be received the next two Sundays
specifically for flood relief assistance.
SHELBYVILLE CHURCH ASSISTING WITH FLOOD BUCKETS
The Shelbyville Church is assisting with contributions for flood
buckets. Between 200 and 300 homes have been damaged or destroyed by
flood waters from the Flat Rock River. The Salvation Army is
providing lunch and dinner to between 200 and 400 flood survivors
each day, plus providing shelter for 55 survivors. – Perry Richards,
pastor, Shelbyville UMC
DISASTER RESPONSE COORDINATORS VIEW FLOOD DAMAGE
Yesterday, South Indiana Conference Disaster Response
Coordinators Bob Babcock and David Powell, both of Danville UMC,
toured flooded areas south of Indianapolis and visited with
responders and flood survivors in Columbus. Edinburg, Ind., is
dealing with both flooding and tornado relief. Powell noted that
members of the Asbury UMC in Columbus are becoming fatigued and need
assistance.
The Red Cross at Greenwood is distributing flood buckets that
came from First UMC in Noblesville and Smith Valley UMC in
Greenwood.
