March 28, 2208 Bishop calls all clergy to ‘Our Life Together’ retreat April 14-15The “Our Life Together” retreat for all United Methodist clergy in Indiana is coming soon on Monday and Tuesday, April 14 and 15 at St. Luke’s UMC in Indianapolis. Here is updated information: REGISTRATION – We already have about 400 clergy registered for this event. If you have not registered yet, please do so right away by using the South Indiana Conference Web site and logging on to www.sicumc.org. Under “Our Life Together” on the home page, click on “SIGN UP ON-LINE TODAY” and follow as directed. Have your credit card ready. If for any reason you cannot register online, you can call toll-free 800-919-8160 for registration information. HOUSING – some of the hotels listed are starting to release their rooms, so make your hotel reservations soon to get the reduced room rate. If you want to be housed with a UM clergy in the Indianapolis area, call the Indianapolis East/West/Metro Ministries office at 317-464-9321, and their staff can give you the name of a clergy who is willing to offer hospitality in their home for Sunday night and/or Monday night. BOOK TO READ IN ADVANCE – Some have asked if our keynote speaker, Dr. Greg Jones, has one of his books to recommend that we read prior to the retreat. He recommends Resurrecting Excellence: Shaping Faithful Christian Ministry which he wrote with Kevin Armstrong. This is not required reading, just a suggestion from Greg. The book is available from www.cokesbury.com. CHOIR OPPORTUNITY – There will be a clergy choir gathered to sing at our closing service on Tuesday afternoon. If you are interested, please join the choir rehearsal at a 7:45 p.m. on Monday night (during free time) in the choir room at St. Luke’s. |
