Evaluation

A new conference for the United Methodist Church in Indiana will necessitate a fair yet vigorous process of evaluation, not one that focuses on judgment, but one that focuses on collaborative inquiry. The intent of evaluation is to be perceptive in understanding, candid in mutual exchange of those perceptions, and collaborative in developing responses that are based on a clearly formulated set of expectations that are made known to those who are engaged in the process. This means that structures, ministry programs, institutions, and personnel in local congregations, in clusters, in regions, and in the conference itself need to remain flexible and fluid, so that changes will not have to wait until a major organizational redesign takes place. It also means that the overall mission of the church needs to be in the forefront of all that is endeavored.
