Deaths

RICHARD ARMSTRONG, retired pastor (SIC), died Oct. 28, 2006. A memorial service was held Nov. 4 at Grace UMC in Franklin, Ind. Survivors include: his wife, Jean Armstrong, 121 Reagan Circle, Franklin, IN 46131; son, Joe Armstrong; daughter, Laura Bowman, and three grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made to the Grace UMC Building Fund, 1300 E. Adams St.; Franklin, IN 46131 and/or Cancer Center of Johnson Memorial Hospital, 1159 W. Jefferson, Franklin, IN 46131.

CLARENCE M. CLEMONS, SR., retired Elder (SIC), died Oct. 12, 2006 in Indianapolis. A memorial service was held at Barnes UMC in Indianapolis on Oct. 21. Survivors include: his wife, Barbara; sons, Paul M. and Clarence M. Jr.; daughters, Karen Vaughn and Clarice Clemons; grandchildren, Marlon and D'Andre Clemons, and Ryan Vaughn; great grandchildren, D'Andre Clemons II. Condolences can be sent to Barbara Clemons, 1910 Wellesley Blvd., Apt. 219, Indianapolis, IN 46219.

C. KENNETH POWELL, retired pastor (NIC), died Oct. 24, 2006. A memorial service was held Oct. 28 at Centenary UMC in Lebanon, Ind., with burial at the Hopewell Cemetery in Boone County. Survivors include: his wife, Anna Mae; children, Charlotte I. Olson, Sun City, Ariz., and Gary D. Powell, Lebanon, Ind.; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Memorials can be given to Centenary UMC, 910 Fordice Road, Lebanon, IN 46052. Condolences may be sent to Anna Mae Powell, 601 Somerset Drive, Lebanon, IN 46052.

LOUIS M. REYNOLDS, retired pastor (NIC), died Oct.14, 2006. A memorial service was held on Oct. 18 at the Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg, Ind. with burial at the Amanda Township Cemetery in Ohio. Survivors include: his wife, Marie, and daughters, Susan Grecco, Carol Hallowell and Laura Reynolds. Memorials can be given to Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, 2121 Sheridan Road, Evanston, IL 60201.

SHARON LEE ROEDER, spouse of the Rev. Marvin Roeder, retired pastor (SIC), died Oct. 24, 2006. A memorial service was held Oct. 28 at the Johnson UMC in New Harmony, Ind. with burial at Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville, Ind. Survivors include: her husband, the Rev. Marvin Roeder, 2333 Roeder Rd., Boonville, IN 47601; son, Marvin Lee Roeder; daughter, Tammy Lou Frazier; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

SILAS V. "TOM" STILES, retired pastor (SIC), died Sept. 30, 2006. A memorial service was held Oct. 5 at Hillside UMC in Princeton, Ind. with burial at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mt. Olympus, Ind. Survivors include: wife, Kathren Stiles, 219 Reavis St., Princeton, IN 47640; two sons, Thomas Stiles and the Rev. Kevin Stiles; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

THELMA ZUNGUZE, widow of Bishop Escrivao Zunguze, died Oct. 1, 2006, after suffering from complications of high blood pressure and a heart problem. A life celebration and memorial service for Zunguze was held Oct. 3 at Malanga Church in Maputo, Mozambique, with burial at Cambine.
