LaSuer, Reynolds chosen

Bishop appoints two new superintendents in North Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Bishop Michael J. Coyner announced Jan. 30 the appointment of two new district superintendents to serve in the North Indiana Conference. He chose the Rev. Craig LaSuer, currently serving as senior pastor of Christ United Methodist Church in Lafayette, to serve the Marion District, and the Rev. Dr. Cindy Reynolds, currently serving as director of ministries for the North Indiana Conference in Marion, to the Warsaw District.

Upon announcing her appointment, Coyner said, "Cindy Reynolds has served North Indiana well in a variety of appointments, including most recently leading the Council of Ministries through a time of transition and restructuring around the core values of the conference. Those skills, plus her previous experience as a District Superintendent, will help the Cabinet plan for the future."

Reynolds, who grew up in the Ligonier UMC, was ordained an Elder in 1979 in the North Indiana Conference. She has served congregations at Hobart First, Hammond Woodmar, Fort Wayne Good Shepherd. She also has served as pastor-director of the Wesley Foundation at Ball State University and as Superintendent of the Huntington District immediately before her present position.

She is a graduate of Ball State University, United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio and Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Mo. She is single and has one brother and one sister.

In response to her new appointment, Reynolds said, "My Passion is to help people make connections - first to God, second to other believers and third to the world/community around them in positive and transforming ways."

Upon announcing LaSauer's appointment, Coyner said, "Craig LaSuer has a proven track record as a pastor of growing churches, including an understanding of the emerging church. He is also creative, open to God's leading and very caring in his style. He will be a strong addition to the Cabinet."

LaSauer, a native of Fort Wayne, was ordained Elder in 1987 in the North Indiana Conference and has served congregations at Fort Wayne Good Shepherd, Zanesville and Lafayette Christ. He is a graduate of Ball State University and United Theological Seminary and is married to Joy Ellen LaSauer.

Coyner announced Jan. 23 that he appointed the Rev. Kevin McKinney, currently Evansville district superintendent, to serve, effective Apr. 1, as senior pastor of Temple UMC in Evansville. The South Indiana Cabinet will name soon a superintendent for the Evansville District.
