BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - "Stewards of God's Grace" will be the theme for the South Indiana Conference as the 690 United Methodist congregations, their pastors and lay members meet 9 a.m. Thursday, June 8 through Noon, Saturday, June 10 at the Indiana University Auditorium in Bloomington.

According to the tentative agenda of the conference, on site registration begins at 7 a.m. at First United Methodist Church for clergy and I.U. Auditorium for lay members.

The Clergy and Laity sessions will begin respectively at 9 a.m. in the sanctuary of First UMC and the auditorium.

The Rev. Dr. Susan W.N. Ruach, director of conference spiritual leadership development of the United Methodist General Board of Discipleship, will preach during a 1:15 p.m. Thursday memorial service to commemorate the lives of pastors and laity who have died since the previous annual conference.

Indiana Area Bishop Mike Coyner will open the 38th Annual Session at 2:30 p.m. followed by the usual roll call, rules, Cabinet resolutions and Cabinet reports.

Visual reports will be clustered into five groups during the three-day session including: Administration, Church Growth and Evangelism, Connectional Ministries, United Methodist-related Institutions and Discipleship. Most of the clustered reports will be adjacent to a five-minute Bible Study led by Coyner.

Highlights of the sessions will include: a Carrie Newcomer Concert (www.carrienewcomer.com) Thursday evening at 7 p.m., followed by a Missions Event at 8 p.m. featuring Bishop Hans Vaxby, residing bishop for UMC's Eurasia Area based in Moscow, Russia, and the Rev. Darryl Tate bringing words of thanks from New Orleans.

During the Friday morning worship service at 10:45 a.m., Bishop Coyner will be introducing Course of Study Graduates, Deacons and Elder candidates, plus recognizing retirees. The Commissioning, Ordination and Passing of the Stole during the Celebration of Ministry Service is scheduled for Friday evening at 7:30 p.m.
