About Coach WalkerMike Walker, holds both B.S. and M.A. degrees from Ball State University. He wore three hats while developing the physical education and athletic department of the four-year Clearwater Christian College in Clearwater, Fla. Besides being athletic director and head of the physical education department, he coached soccer, basketball and spring sports. His high school coaching journey took him and his wife, Linda, and their three children to Florida, California and then back to Indiana, their home. Walker was a first team All-State player on the Crawfordsville, Ind., basketball team that played in the Final Four 1958 Championship Game. In his own words, he says, "The reason I have a real passion for helping high school players get into college is because, as one of six kids growing up in Crawfordsville, my mom and dad were great parents, but as far as education went, they both dropped out of school in the eighth grade to go to work. My coaches were the only people who encouraged me to dream that I could actually go to college. We also would like to present the Gospel to as many unchurched kids as possible because, personally, I did not attend church until I met my wife, Linda, in college. I am sure there are thousands of kids out there who are in the same boat that I was in. All they really need is a chance, whether that chance is going to college or hearing the Gospel. We want to give them that chance." Last updated on 25 Apr 2008 |
