Renewal movement leader Robb dies at 78

The Rev. Ed Robb, 78, one of the unique and significant leaders of the renewal movements within The United Methodist Church, died on Dec. 15, 2004 in his hometown of Marshall, Texas, according to the Confessing Movement within The United Methodist Church.

A memorial service was held on Dec. 17 at First United Methodist Church in Marshall. The service was a celebration of Robb's life and his commitment to "Jesus Christ as God's Son and Savior of all." According to the Confessing Movement online obituary, "He was unswerving in support of biblical authority and the apostolic faith."

Robb was born in 1926. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, making a profession of Christian faith shortly after the war. He was ordained an United Methodist minister and preached the Gospel for over 50 years as both a pastor and an evangelist. He was a leader in almost every major United Methodist renewal movement, including The Confessing Movement, Good News, the Mission Society for United Methodists, the Foundation for Theological Education and the Institute on Religion and Democracy.

Robb, a preacher of the Gospel all over the world, was recognized as one of the leading evangelists in The United Methodist Church.
