Eight churches receive growth grants

MARION, Ind. -- Through conference ministry grants, eight North Indiana congregations get a boost at growth.

According to Ed Fenstermacher, associate director of Church Development and Revitalization, the North Indiana United Methodist Conference Committee on Church Development made a $30,000 grant to New Hope United Methodist Church at Anderson for relocation.

The committee also loaned $100,000 to Trinity UMC at Lapel for the development of a new facility on its second campus. If the church develops a new worshiping congregation at this site within three years, this loan will become a grant.

Six churches have received worship matching grants of $5,000 this year to help them establish a new congregation to reach a new group of residents. They include: Fort Wayne's Aboite, Trinity, and Saint Joseph UMCs, Markle UMC, and Muncie High Street and Riverside UMCs.
