What, if anything, did September 11 teach us as Christians?

Jeanette Keim
North Webster UMC
North Webster

I believe that September11 has brought us closer to our church and closer to our neighbors. It has changed our church - more love is shown; our faith has grown.
In general, people in the U.S. have been more aware of their families, and have drawn closer to God.

Chong Cha Maudlin
Salem UMC
Salem

I realize that much as we want to control our lives, that it is God who is in control of our lives. At the time, I felt I ought to do something, but didn't know what. I no longer feel helpless. I have come to be more appreciative of my family and life.

John Hiatt
Christ UMC
Westfield

How to keep our faith in God and to always be prepared. Keep yourself right with Jesus. Keep our lives right. "What would Jesus do?" His hand had to be in that tragedy, too, for the good things that came out of it.

George Rapp, Jr.
Lincolnville UMC
Lafontaine

Quite a bit - that we shouldn't worry too much about tomorrow. God's already there. He knows what we need tomorrow. 9-11-2001 reinforces our need to be conscious continually of the brevity of life.

Sergio Pereira
Pastor, Tracy UMC
Hamlet

It helps us to realize suffering is a part of life. It can come any time, any moment, anywhere. Instead of pushing it away, we need to learn to deal with it.
