JOHN AND KENDRA ENRIGHT - personal observations from the eyes of Hoosiers

Twelve persons from the Fountain Square UMC in Muncie traveled this past April to Zambia, Africa for a work camp. Pastor David Harrold, a long-time friend of John and Kendra Enright, as well as John's parents, Ken and Lorraine, supplied the initial inspiration for the three-week experience.

Wanda Lindsay, mission chairperson, added support and enthusiasm, along with others who offered encouragement. Each person paid for his/ her own expenses, $1,600 each, plus miscellaneous gifts they took for the Mission. In addition, the church gave $10,000 for supplies they used in building a dorm at the Kafakumba Pastor's School.

When the group reported to the congregation at a June fellowship dinner, their program included personal observations and pictures of their dorm-building experience. In addition to their personal work experience, of special interest were the spacious healthy-looking fields of banana sprouts, a project John introduced to Zambia after studying and researching the possibilities, then using a species from Israel. They also showed pictures of John and Kendra's home and family and the arrival of the supplies truck from Marion, Ind. that was supposed to have arrived this past Christmas.

While showing an African worship service, Fountain Square participants explained that some of the Zambians had walked for three hours to reach the church and, when dancers got down on the floor during the dance, that meant God was watching over them.

Enthusiastic participants agreed they were pleased to be part of a church that is willing to reach out to the needs of others.

FROM DELBERT AND SANDY GROVES IN ZAMBIA AFRICA

In an e-mail from Del and Sandy Groves in mid June, they were excited about the completion of the main building that will house their printing equipment and publishing offices. Additional good news was that the shipping container from the US, with all the equipment and other supplies had just arrived. Pictures of their ministry are posted on their web-site at www.newlifezambia.com.

They are in the process of finishing the workshop buildings that will be used for training in self-help technical support areas; and then their next big push will be the multi-purpose conference building, which will be the last of the buildings at the New Life Center. They will appreciate any help that can support these projects. They stressed the importance of marking everything with the advance special number, when sending funds through your conference treasurer. The advance special number is New Life #013125. Also, e-mail Del and Sandy when this is done, as it helps to keep them informed. groves@newlifezambia.com

Along with all the construction going on, they are also starting another church in a village called Chibaluma just outside Kitwe. The first church they started in Chingola is growing and being used to the maximum.

They wrote, "We are very happy to see God's Kingdom grow like this. You know, if you just share the truth about our Living Lord and is teachings, people just want to be saved and set free from sin. It's wonderful to see and we're having a great time in the Lord!"
