A bright idea from:

Auburn First UMC

The congregation at Auburn First UMC, Fort Wayne District, organized a mission fundraiser that not only saw a profit, but also brought back one of Auburn's culinary favorites.

Marie Bowerman, Auburn First UMC member, is known for her ham loaves. For 29 years, Marie and her husband, Loyal, ran Bowerman's Meat Market. The ham loaves have been missed since the couple's retirement in 1982.

Due to the loaf's popularity, the Auburn First UMC decided to sell them as a missions fund-raising project. At last count, the congregation had made 1,389 loaves, under the supervision of Marie Bowerman. Selling at $8 each, the church had raised a total of $7,000.
