More than 650 attend SIC Junior High YAC

There was, as usual, the annual Bucket Wars. This year it was between Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

The South Indiana Conference 2001 Junior High Youth Annual Conference was held on Nov. 10-11 at French Lick Springs Resort. The whole weekend was great fun, the theme was "It's All About You."

The band for the weekend was Tim Price and the Harvest Ministry Team. Tim and his band have been playing at many junior and senior high YACs. We appreciated them coming back with us. They provided beautiful and energetic music.

Jonathan McKee was the speaker for the weekend. He was the perfect Junior High speaker. Jonathan is originally from Sacramento, so it was a long trip for him to come from California. The many stories he shared helped to lead many people to Christ on Saturday night.

The whole weekend was a huge event, but we had a bunch of smaller events as well. Operation Christmas Child was an event where the "junior highers" brought shoeboxes filled with all kinds of cool toys and/or hygiene items. Two-hundred-and-fifty shoeboxes were collected.

There was, as usual, the annual Bucket Wars. This year it was between Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. After much contest, it ended in a tie. After all, neither would exist if it weren't for God.

On Saturday there was a crazy and rambunctious scavenger hunt around the resort. Later that night was the dance. Also there was a prayer room entitled God Answers Prayer. Sunday began with a Bible study and ended with worship.

Here is an overview of the workshops we offered for youth: Time Out With God, Don't Sweat The Small Stuff, God's Eternal Promises, Helping Friends, Dating, Walking the Talk (living your faith), Taming Your Tune and YAC choir, which gave an awesome concert Saturday night.

Five workshops were held for adult leaders: Help! I'm a Junior High Youth Leader, Reaching Unchurched Youth, Self-Care for the Youth Worker, Youth Ministry for Small Groups, and Building a Small Group Ministry for Youth.

This weekend was a blessing; there was a 60% increase in attendance. A total of 672 kids attended. Don't let large numbers stop your church's youth group from coming next year.
